go get em thai-ger (Thai Tea Vietnamese Coffee)
10 mins prepServes 2
Two of my favorite drinks in one wake up call. This recipe makes condensed milk optional since thai tea is sweet on its own. The recipe highlights the layering of the drink, suggesting a fancy pour technique for the coffee over the tea.
1. Bring water to boil, add thai tea mix, stir and simmer for 3 min. Add sugar, stir and dissolve for 3 min. Take off heat and let cool.
2. Prepare viet coffee by putting coffee grinds in a french press over a cup. Top with press piece over the coffee and add hot water to fill the press. Let drip. (Optional: add condense milk if you want it to be sweeter but the coffee + thai tea will balance in sweetness).
3. In a glass pour in ice. Add thai tea and your choice of milk and mix together.
4. To make the coffee and tea layer, take a wide spoon and set it above the thai tea. Gently pour in your viet coffee on top of the spoon to let it “ease” on top of the tea.
5. Enjoy!
