Inspired by the Loki series, this recipe for homemade Kablooie gum brings back chemistry days with a fun DIY twist. The flavoring and food coloring are interchangeable, allowing for personalization.
1. Combine gum base, corn syrup, and flavoring in a microwaveable bowl. Stir together. Heat in microwave for 20 seconds & stir again. Continue to heat & stir in intervals of 20 seconds until mixture is liquified (be careful when handling the mixture & the bowl, it will be very hot!)
2. Pour out your confectioner sugar onto a non-stick mat & form a small well in the middle. Pour out your (hot) mixture into the well & fold into the confectioner sugar with a spatula. Once the gum is cool enough you can knead with your hands until the gum is not entirely sticky.
3. Once the gum is smooth & not sticky you can form or cut the gum into any shape/size you’d like (ie. ball shape, strips, cubes).
4. Store in zip lock for 1-2 weeks.
